About Us

Here at Archibald Fergusson Ltd our history is very important to us. It not only promotes a strong sense of identity but, over the generations, has given us a set of values which shape the way we work on a daily basis.

You can read more about our history as a family of builders going back several generations, but suffice to say over the course of nearly two centuries we’ve built our reputation - and ensured our longevity - by providing a quality service at a fair price.

From our base in Strachur, Argyll, we undertake building work all over Argyll and occasionally further afield. We cover all building works, from complete new builds to minor renovations. Whether that work means using cutting-edge building techniques or traditional skills and materials, we can accommodate your requirements.

We constantly update our skills base to ensure we stay abreast of the latest developments in construction technology so we are able to build high spec energy efficient projects. We also keep one eye on the past in order to undertake historical and listed building projects such as the restoration of the church at Kilfinan, which enhance and preserve Argyll’s rich architectural heritage.

Our permanent staff comprises a full range of tradesmen and we use local apprenticeships to ensure that the pool of skilled labour we require is primarily drawn from our own community. That approach has paid dividends in the form of a core team of 12 multi-skilled, dedicated and experienced tradesmen who between have vast experience across a wide range of building types.
